MANDALAS FOR HEALING

Often, if we will listen, we will remember things we knew long before we came to this earth. I felt that way about mandalas, although my first interest in mandalas began with simple circles.

I felt as though the circles stood out to me, almost as though they glowed with light and called me to an ancient remembrance.
When I eventually looked up the meaning of circles I found that they symbolized togetherness, unity love, friendship and family. Within earth centered traditions circles were symbolic of goddess. This was the main symbol to transmit female energy and power. The space within the circle represents sacred space, cosmos, or a spiritualized Mother Earth. When a dot is placed inside the circle it indicates, from a Buddhist point of view the merging of male and female forces.
From Gnostic traditions the circle was the world serpent, the unbroken circle as the serpent eats its own tail.
When quartered the circles points from the center to north, east, south and west.
The basic pattern of the medicine wheel is formed in order to play a sacred and vital role in native American ceremonies and traditions.
For those of you who have deeper understandings about symbology or who know much about sacred geometry, my musings about circles may seem almost child like, but for me it has always seemed to be the most simple of things which are the most profound.

That which uplifts is always from the most simple, the most direct way. Nature and its abundance gives to us freely. Art, music, light and friendship all of these simple and yet profound blessings are healers in our life.
And so I came to find mandalas. Buddhist mandalas are drawn with exquisite detail in sand. They are made to be temporary , to represent the need to release our grasp on material things.
They are also a part of meditation practices.

For me they have become a spiritual healing tool, a sacred space to release that which is in my subconscious and also my conscious mind.
The mandalas help us to access deeper levels of our being. They bring us a mystical experience and a sense of oneness, not only with parts of our lives we may have been unaware of, but with the whole of the universe. One cannot help but feel more complete after the experience of creating a mandala.
Psychoanalyst Carl Jung saw mandalas as a way to identify disorder and also to restore order as the person doing the mandala worked towards whole ness.
Mandalas are said to represent a microcosm of the universe. As we share our colors, feelings and representations of our own lives within the circle we share a microcosm of our own personal universe if nothing else.
You do not have to be depressed or sick to create mandalas, some of the most exquisite mandalas are created from health and happiness. But, as we all are one it remind us that
it is in circles of life that we heal. It is with circles of light that we know. It is with circles unbroken that we create love and healing.

The following is a verse from a poem which I wrote as I was seeking to understand truth and a way to heal naturally, after being released from a psychiatric ward after depression following the birth of my baby.
The undrugged mind, the clear sentences, the color of rainbows, the music of nature, all of these along with the love that is always ours to claim creates joy and purpose in our life. Not one shall be forgotten as we reach in circled hands.
In circled hands
We shall not be
– Alone –
For I have carved
Her memory
In my mind
Not for the purpose
Of a vengeful heart
But for the
solace of
The ones
Who grieve
And I shall lift
My voice
And I shall cry
To those
Who will believe

Circle of infinity – Speaker of life – Holder of dreams – Lover of spirit – Unifier of hearts – Blender of beauty – I AM THAT I AM – Singer of songs – Gatherer of stars

When we work to create mandalas we bring together whatever fragments we have lost, to unify the wholeness and truth of who we really are. We will explore the questions, implore the divine, and outshine the darkness so that the energy of pure love will shine with clarity upon our dreams, that we may take them and make them into our own reality, always with divine guidance, and with a sure listening of the highest good within us, and for us.\

Each day we create a new world for ourselves. Our choices are so varied and so exciting. As we make choices which lift our vibration and bring love and joy into our world and into our lives, we create a new beginning, a new paradigm.

Mandalas are a concrete and visual way to symbolize these changes which we desire. As we look upon the picture of our mandala we are subconsciously reminded each time of the decisions we have made to act up on our goals and wishes and turn them into reality.

First, we want to be sure that we have cleared the way for your mandala to shine from the truth of your soul. As you write and become clearer in your mind removing blocks and seeing the truth of things that all gifts are waiting to be claimed. Everyone is a divine being loved equally and perfectly by the universe. It is only our beliefs and choices and then our positive actions which will show this to be true as we clear all obstacles. As we alter our perception, and claim who we are and our divine purposes in life, we can leave the past behind and live in the present moment.

As you choose the area you wish to work upon, sit quietly for a moment and breathe in light. Ask Spirit to bring to mind the colors you will need for your mandala. Ask for shapes, animals, symbols or words, or simply a knowing, to come into your mind as to what this area of your life represents for you, and how you expect it to be.

Know that the gifts are yours
They wait only to
Be claimed
How shining, how bright,
They appear to those
Who lift the veils
Of illusion

They appear to those
Who laugh
And love
And know
That this is
Truth.

Mandalas are one of the chosen ways of light which give us new pathways to follow. From chaos to order, from hatred to love, from greed to giving, from jealousy to admiration, from force to choice, from control to freedom, from separation to oneness. From the shadow side we now affirm the light. Each moment, each day, as we speak and we act, we choose the thoughts and words and actions of light. We return back to the pure self, embracing gentle yet powerful wisdom in conscious choice and the sure knowledge of who we are.

Mandalas are symbolic of progress order and unification. As you create your personal mandalas you will find a surety of mind and a quickening of spirit as body mind and spirit align to create what you intend to set forth.

Remember that the difference between a successful person and an unsuccessful one is that the first acts, the second only dreams of acting.

What is delicious to your soul?
Are the things you are most familiar with a pattern and programming of other people’s lives?
Are they your own authentic likes and dislikes?
See yourself as a small child, even smaller, a baby coming into this world freshly made and with a blank canvas and yet cells of light permeating this tiny frame filled with information of past generations as well as your own unique being. See this child open his or her eyes, see them look in wonder at the world. See them move into the realm of understanding that in this world in order to survive they must take on themselves, at least in part the likes and the dislikes of others. Briefly see the frames of your own life in which you have taken on those things which were not truly yours. This is simply a very brief look at that which you want to release. If no pictures come to mind simply believe and know that your intention to release them will be enough. Now see yourself as a small child again, you may want to see several small children and all around them in panoramic scene is a view of all that is good and right within the world. Love and harmony reign in this world and the child’s choices are untainted.

Speak to the teenager and ask the teenager to look at who you were and who you are as a child. For all of us are asked to become as little children.

The teenager must take the knowledge that he or she has and integrate it within themselves at a time and date they choose. Autonomy and choice and responsibility is their path to freedom. Speak to your teenage self and tell them you believe in them and in their highest integrity and form this belief you entrust your greatest gift the child that once was you and still lives inside of you – the authentic child the dream and pathway to the authentic adult.

THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER WAY.
