Kindness goes a long long way. That’s why the scriptures says “Above all things Charity”. Children are kind. Before we get to them, and reprogram their beliefs with all kinds of negativity, children are pure unadulterated energy filled with love and kindness. It’s the same with animals.

Kindness is the basis of everything because it’s our connection to our heart.

I remember as a little girl seeing a bee drowning in a large tub of water. It was one of those beautiful big bumble bees. I must have been about six years old. I got a stick and fished it out. I watched while the little creature dried out in the sun then flew away. It give me immense joy and I’ve never forgotten how I felt. It may have been a very small thing in the whole scheme if life but for that little lonely shy girl that I was back then it made a huge impact. It’s things like that which bring us the most lasting pleasure. Giving to others because it feels so wonderful.
I believe that far too often we are stuck in a pattern of life and allow things to happen to us. We have to make things happen and be proactive.

There is a quote which says, “Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
It is possible to learn this language as fluently as any and there is a tremendous amount of good we will get from learning and expanding on this attribute every day.

Kindness is a smile.
Kindness is a helping hand.
Kindness is believing the very best of others.
Kindness is meeting others half way or going the extra mile.
Kindness is a soft touch, a hug, a loving look.
Kindness is doing something wonderful for someone even if they don’t know it was you.
Kindness is speaking words that will lift another.
Kindness is being quiet when your words might hurt.
Kindness is generosity and consideration.
Kindness is listening to someone and holding their hand.

I could go on and on about the attributes of kindness but ultimately kindness is the reservoir of golden moments given from out hearts and stored forever in our memories. It is what makes life worth living.

What we focus upon grows and kindness is no different. We can actually design a life where kindness, success, and joy are our focus. We do this by being conscious and aware of those things that are important to us.

What is the kindest thing you’ve ever done?
What is the kindest thing that has been done for you?
What is the kindest thing you can do today?
What are some kind things that you can do regularly in life?
For others?
For yourself?

There is a Pay It Forward App that I came across on Oprah’s website. The App is to encourage you to pay good deeds forward and you’ll find tons of ideas there.

There are some wonderful stories on kindness on Oprah’s web site. There is also a great book called ‘The Kindest People Who Do Good Deeds.’ That will not only lift your spirits but get you in the mood for doing your own kind acts.

I have always thought I was really kind but when I read of people who had donated their kidneys to strangers so that the other person could live I was in awe.

Our world is ever changing. In my days of growing up religion played a large part of my conditioning. We were told to always think of others before ourselves. Now the television and our technological age screams indulgence. However, underneath the illusions and the artificial there are truths that stand the test of time. You cannot give of your best if you are not taking care of your own self. Service is a beautiful thing, but so are you.

Part of learning who you are requires that you know what you like and don’t like and also that you take care of yourself and give to yourself the best things. I’m not talking about Porsches and designer clothes. I’m talking about thinking the best of your self, nurturing your self taking time for your self and all round planning to CREATE an amazing life for yourself. Sometimes I just have to put words in capitals to emphasize the importance. If we are not creating constantly in a conscious way, then we are living by default.

You are an amazing brilliant shining star. There is only one of you.
Begin with kindness and you cannot go wrong. End with kindness and fill the middle with kindness too. You can never have or give enough kindness. Just make sure it’s the real deal, the authentic feelings and generosity that are grounded in your love not codependency.

Codependency is when you do things for others that they can do for themselves.
Codependency is when we are preoccupied with something or someone else and we neglect our own needs.
Our whole life can pass us by as we ‘pretend to be kind.’

Kindness is the joy of living and giving because your heart is overflowing with the joy of life. And if it isn’t overflowing then a few conscious acts of kindness will set you on the way. Remember, it’s a lifestyle and a belief system.
“My definition of success is to live your life in a way that causes you to feel a ton of pleasure and very little pain – and because of your lifestyle, have the people around you feel a lot more pleasure than they do pain.”
Anthony Robbins quotes (American advisor to leaders)
